Abstract

Forts are one of the key features of Northern Western Ghats and provide a diverse range of habitats due to their unique topography and act as shelter places for native and endemic flora. They play important role in their respective ecosystems as they protect and isolate flora and fauna resulting into home for numerous endemic species. Floristics of forts have been studied by various workers and in present review, an effort has been made to present detailed account of floristic studies on forts in Sahyadri ranges of Western Ghats.
