Abstract

Corchorus olitorius L. is a renowned cultivated plant in India and worldwide, it is belongs to the Malvaceae family. Commonly termed nalta jute and Janumu plant. On the basis of traditional wisdom, the plant phytochemical and antidermatophytic studies were carried out. In the current work, a novel antidermatophytic polyphenolic potential flavonoid was isolated from 10 solvent ratios of column chromatography using methanolic seed extract. It was revealed that the isolated polyphenolic compound “Hexadecahydro-17-(2,5-dihyro-5-oxofuran-3-yl)-3,5,14-trihydroxy-13-methyl-iH- cyclopenta[a]phenanthrene-10-carbaldehyde” have confirmed against M. gypsum and T. rubrum. The widely prescribed antifungal Ketoconazole has MIC values of 0.1 mg ml-1 against T. rubrum and M. gypseum, compared to the isolated molecule’s range of 0.12 mg ml-1. By analyzing the UV, LCMS, HPLC, NMR spectrums data, it was characterized the antidermatophytic targeted molecule
